How does BraTenders work?
We operate by appointment only. This means you get the undivided attention, and dedicated assistance of one of our fit specialist/lingerie stylists. When you get to the shop, your expert will first determine your proper bra size (most women come in wearing the wrong size bra). Then, she’ll help you select the foundations that feel good, support your figure, and make you look fabulous in your clothes! We accommodate walk-ins as staff and space are available. It’s really to your advantage to book an appointment, especially during our busy bridal season March-September.
Why do I need an appointment to buy a bra?
Appointments ensure that each and every client gets the stellar service that has made Bra*Tenders so popular. No matter how big our staff, we simply cannot provide the proper service to the amount of people who’d like to browse or stop by the shop on a whim.
How do I book an appointment at Bra*Tenders?
It’s simple! Call (212) 957-7000, or fill out the Request Appointment form on the website, and email it back. Although you can sometimes get a same-day timeslot, we encourage all shoppers to make an appointment at least one week in advance. When you get to the shop, it’ll be less hectic, and we’ll be able to provide you with the kind and courteous treatment you deserve for calling ahead!
What is the cost of a fitting at Bra*Tenders?
Fittings are free with a purchase of $50 or more. Our expertise, services and products are in high demand, so we ask that you book an appointment when you are ready to solve your bra and wardrobe conundrums. We take your credit card information when you call to schedule an appointment so that everybody’s time is respected. You are charged a no show fee for the appointment if you cancel at the last minute or don’t show up for your scheduled appointment (read more about our cancellation policy here). Once here, you’ll be treated to our award winning service, and will walk out feeling uplifted!

What are your store hours?
Our regular store hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, Tuesday or Thursday until 7 PM, and most Saturdays until 4 PM.
How long does an appointment take?
We book your appointment for 55 minutes. You may use all or any of that time to shop for your lingerie, unless other arrangements are made at the time you schedule.
What brands do you carry?
We carry many better department store brands, designer brands, several imported specialty brands, lots of lesser-known full-busted styles, and, of course, the famed Bra*Tenders store brand.
How much do your bras cost?
Our prices are comparable to department stores. Bridal Bustiers range from $89 – $159, most are under $140. A good everyday bra costs between $50 and $75. Fuller Cup Bras (F and larger) start at $65.
How to Pay?
Orders may be placed online here or by phone, fax, or email. Private Customers may pay either with a major credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, Amex) or cash.

Do you custom-make undergarments at Bra*Tenders?
No, we do not custom-make bras, we custom-fit bras. The majority of women are walking around wearing the wrong bra size. At Bra*Tenders, our highly trained fitting specialists use an array of time tested techniques (tape measure formulas do not work) to make all of our customers look and feel beautiful in their new bras, and clothes. Our fitters have been trained by co-owner of Bra*Tenders, Lori Kaplan, who has 40 years of professional fitting experience, as well as having been educated by the professionals at Rigby and Peller, famed for being corsetieres to the Crown of England in the days of yore..
How long will it take for me to get my bra(s)?
Women shopping particularly for their wedding generally walk out of the shop with their purchases the same day they come for their fitting. Bra*Tenders stocks a substantial inventory of our best sellers, so most shoppers walk out the door with their entire purchases. However, sometimes placing special orders becomes necessary. For all special orders, especially those that must cross international borders, the wait time is usually from four days to four weeks.
How often can I wear the same bra?
Depending on how you care for them, most bras last six months to a year. It’s OK to wear your bra twice, or even three times with normal activity before washing. If you perspire heavily, or have sweat enough that your bra becomes soggy, then wash immediately. Your bodily fluids interact with the fibers in the bra and break down the suppleness of the elastic causing the bra to lose support. This happens more so in the summer when your body is more prone to sweating. Perspiration breaks down the fibers, so you may want to invest in a few extra products during those hot months.
How many bras should I own?
Lori suggests owning about 7-10 bras: At least four basic, everyday bras (two in nude and two in black); a demi-cup bra or plunge bra for those sexy shirts that are meant to show cleavage; two strapless bras (one in black and one in nude); a racer-back bra for shirts with cutout shoulders, either in one or two colors; and at least one sports bra (two if you lead an active lifestyle). How should I wash my bras?
Ideally you should hand wash them, especially molded cup bras. Use a detergent created for fine lingerie, like Forever New, or baby soap. Gently squeeze the suds into your bra and rinse in cool water. Washing your bras in a machine is perfectly acceptable if you shield them in a lingerie bag. Fasten the clasps of your bras, place them in the delicate bag, and turn the machine on “gentle”—this will protect underwires and elastic during the rinse and spin cycles. Lastly, never put your bras in the dryer. Heat destroys elastic.
